Description

Southern Railway #154 is stopped and passengers disembark her train to take in a baseball game in a nearby park.

A 2-8-0 the locomotive was built in 1890 for the East Tennessee, Virginia & Georgia Railway which would later become the Southern Railway. The engine had a fairly long working life and wasn't retired until the early 1950's when one of her last services was being leased power to the Smokey Mountain Railway in Sevierville, Tennessee. The Southern donated her to the city of Knoxville where she was placed on display in a park. In 2008 the city transferred ownership to the Gulf & Ohio Railway Company for the purposes of restoring the engine to service and use on the cities riverfront.

She is the second oldest coal burner in currently in operation.
